May Day book

May Day 2009 by Eric Lee

May Day is perhaps the only holiday celebrated by both Israeli and Palestinian workers. In many countries it is an enormously significant day, celebrated by millions. In others, it has never been particularly important, or has long been in decline.

I think that the revival of May Day is essential for a strengthened labour movement everywhere and for the renewal of international labour solidarity.

This year, I encourage all of you to learn more about our day, the first of May, by purchasing copies for yourselves and your union of May Day: A Short History of the International Workers’ Holiday.

This 184-page illustrated paperback is a great introduction to the history of May Day.

LabourStart is pleased to offer it as our book of the week for only $10.00.

At that price, you should order several copies.

Remember that every book you order helps support LabourStart’s campaigning activities.
