On the ABC’s Insiders this morning, the prattle about our Defence Minister should not have occured after DPM Gillard put it all to rest! The journalists can’t seem to analyse and ask questions about the capitalist crisis and debate the coming G20 conference, where those against corporate globalisation and financial disaster can oly protest in the streets.
What the DPM should have been quizzed on is her government’s sell-out of the lowest paid in the Fair Wage minimum argument on again. It is about time that the DPM supported low paid workers maintaining their real wages…all the ACTU claim does. The ACTU’s most modest claim would not impact adversely on employment.
But the DPM by conceding the job fears, backs corporate ideology when she knows a small wage increase in line with inflation will help boost consumer spending and the economy.
Obviously job losses are to continue but not due to minimum wage demands, but the GFC and our recession.
We hope that the DPM has a strategy to help the lowest paid who voted for the ALP.
